July 2, 1963: A-4B BuNo 142864 sustained substantial damage in a landing at NAS Norfolk. The pilot survived the incident (went through the over run, through a chain-link fence and into a pond (He was under water for awhile before crash crew got him out of the cockpit); and turned in his wings several months later. I was his plane captain on his final attempt at flying, he jumped back out of the cockpit, walked to the ready room and called it quits.
